These are the best places to go on the Internet:
- Google
- Once just a haven for engineers & scientists, apparently because engineers & scientists were the
only ones who actually wanted a search engine to show them what they were looking for on the Internet. Now most
of the world has discovered that engineers & scientists are usually right, except in matters of taste. Google
is also more commercialized than it used to be, which is a shame.
- The Sorensen Family History Organization
- Most people should learn more about their ancestors, and everyone should know about the big green box.
- Ebay
- A great place to find out of print books or videos, or a good price on a used CD. Make sure to window shop
(read lots of auctions for the items you're interested in) so you'll be familiar with the market, and remember
that more of that item will come along eventually.
- Dilbert
- Companies are probably the greatest example of why capitalism is good, and also why capitalism is bad.
- Calvin & Hobbes
- Reruns of the greatest comic strip ever.
And of course, if you're going to claim to be young and have a web site, you need to provide links to rock bands:
- Aerosmith
- One of the few groups who actually got it together after falling apart - has any other band made such a
comeback? (No, the Eagles do not count. I don't believe they actually ever really broke up.)
- Scorpions
- Another band that's been around a LONG time, these guys are actually really good musicians and fun to see
in concert. And any band composed of native Germans must rock by definition.
- Tesla
- You've got to admire a band named after a scientist, especially one who contributed so much to modern society
and got shafted for it. These guys are down to earth in a good way.
- Queensryche
- When Geoff Tate sings, you can feel his pain.
